Teach Videxa your voice in 2 minutes

After a short tap quiz, Videxa's titles and Ask answers will sound more like you, and still tell the truth.

In this lesson

  • Take the voice quiz and save your voice.
  • Read your archetype and use "Tweak" on anything that is not you.
  • See how a saved voice changes Write, and keep only honest titles (craft check).

Why teach Videxa your voice

Until you save a voice, Write says so next to the "Write title and description" button: "Generic until Videxa knows your voice. Teach it". The card beside the form says the same: "generic until Videxa learns how you talk. Teach it in 2 minutes".

The voice quiz takes about 2 minutes, and every answer is a tap. You pick comments, reactions and titles you like. Videxa works out your style from your picks. Then it uses that style when it writes titles, descriptions and Ask answers for you.

A voice changes how Videxa's words sound. It does not change your video, and it cannot promise views. No person, tool or course can, and that includes this one. Your video is still the real work.

Where to open it

First, connect your channel. Until you do, the button in Settings is greyed out, with the note "Connect your channel first; Videxa uses it to calibrate your voice."

Once your channel is connected, you can open the quiz from three places:

Step 1: the kind of videos you make

The quiz asks "What kind of videos do you make?" and shows 12 choices, such as "Food and cooking", "Vlogs and lifestyle", "Education and how-to" and "Something else".

If Videxa can tell your channel's topic, it skips this screen and makes a guess. Above the first question you see "Your channel looks like" followed by its guess. If the guess is wrong, tap "Not right?" and pick for yourself.

Step 2: 8 quick taps

Next come 8 questions. You answer each one with a tap. Some answers show a short note, and then the quiz moves on by itself. The questions cover:

Step 3: see how you come across

After your last answer, the quiz moves on by itself. If it waits, tap "Show me my voice". You then see "Here is how you come across".

At the top is your archetype, a short name for your style, with a summary under it. Below are four rows, and each one has a "Tweak" button:

The sample titles are only samples

Under the rows, "Titles in this voice" shows a few sample titles. They are about a sample topic for your kind of videos, such as "This 10-Minute Recipe" for cooking. They are not about your own videos.

Read them to hear the voice, not to copy them. If they sound nothing like you, tap "Tweak" on the row that feels wrong before you save.

Step 4: save it, and see what changes

When it feels right, tap "That is me, save it". You see "Videxa knows your voice now", with a few titles freshly written in your voice. These are about the sample topic too.

Your voice is saved to your Videxa account. From now on:

No voice is better than another

There are 7 archetypes: The Deadpan Observer, The Sharp Roaster, The Relatable Mess, The Feel-Good Creator, The Chaos Agent, The Clever Wordsmith and The Straight Shooter. Your humour answers decide which one you get.

None of them is better than the others. A calm teacher who plays it straight and a cheerful family vlogger can both serve their viewers well.

So answer as you really are on camera, not as the creator you wish you were. If your videos are gentle but you pick savage answers, Videxa will write savage titles for gentle videos, and your viewers will feel the mismatch.

Do

  • Keep your viewer sentence from "Your viewer and your next three ideas" next to you while you take the quiz.
  • Answer every question as you really are on camera.
  • Keep each title accurate to the video.
  • Retune your voice when your videos change, for example when a vlog channel becomes a cooking channel.

Don't

  • Do not pick answers to sound cooler, sharper or bigger than you are.
  • Do not copy the sample titles. They are about a sample topic, not your video.
  • Do not fill titles with ALL CAPS and emoji. YouTube advises using them carefully, to emphasise emotion or special elements in the video.

Save your voice, then write again

  1. Put your viewer sentence from "Your viewer and your next three ideas" next to you. If you do not have one yet, write it now: "I make videos for [a person] who wants [a result or feeling]."
  2. Open Settings, choose the "Writing voice" tab and tap "Teach Videxa my voice".
  3. Check the kind of videos. Then answer the 8 questions as you really are on camera.
  4. On "Here is how you come across", compare "You speak to" with your viewer sentence. If it does not match, tap "Tweak" on that row.
  5. Tap "That is me, save it".
  6. Open Write and describe the same video you used in "Write your first title and description". Check that the line next to the "Write title and description" button says "Writing as" with your archetype, then tap "Write title and description".
  7. Read the 5 titles out loud. Keep the one you would actually say to a friend, and that your video truly delivers. Trim any extra ALL CAPS and emoji.
